Who is eligible for this service?
To apply for this service, you must meet the following criteria:
- Age: Be at least 21 years old.
- Driving License: Hold a valid driving license.
- Identification: Provide a valid ID card or passport.
- Professional License: Hold a valid taxi driver’s license (taxi permit).
- Residency: Provide a valid proof of address (e.g., a utility bill)..
How long will it take for my application to be processed?
We aim to process and confirm all requests within 4 business hours. Please note that this timeframe begins once all required documents have been successfully submitted for verification.
How will I know my booking has been successful?
We will keep you updated throughout the process. Once your registration and eligibility have been validated, you will receive a confirmation notification via the app and a detailed email. To ensure you receive these updates instantly, please keep your app notifications enabled.
What happens if my application is unsuccessful?
If your application is not approved, we will notify you and your booking request will be cancelled. No payment will be taken from your card. If any funds have already been charged or held, they will be refunded in full (100%). You are welcome to apply again as soon as you meet all the necessary criteria.
What happens if there are no vehicles available?
If our fleet is currently fully booked, you will have the option to join our waiting list. We will monitor availability and notify you via email the moment a vehicle becomes available so you can secure your booking.
Do I need to book in advance?
To ensure everything is perfectly prepared for you, we require a minimum lead time of 48 business hours. This means that the earliest you can start your rental is 48 hours from the moment you complete your booking.
Is there a minimum or maximum rental period?
Yes. The minimum rental period is 2 weeks, and the maximum duration for a single contract is 52 weeks.
How can I amend my reservation?
Plans can change, and you can easily manage your booking directly in the app. If you need to cancel your request and any payment has already been processed, don't worry—you will receive a 100% refund. All funds will be returned to your original payment method in full, with no hidden fees.
How do I fill out the Power of Attorney?
Completing this document is designed to be a quick, hassle-free process. You do not need to install any special programs or apps. What are my options for filling it out?
- In your Web Browser (Easiest): Open the PDF directly in Chrome, Edge, or Safari. Click on the fields and type your information. When finished, download the file "with changes" to your device.
- Manual: You can print the document, fill in your details by hand using block letters, and then scan it back into a PDF format. Do I need to sign the document? No, a physical signature is not required. This document is specifically formatted for electronic submission via the Data Box (Datové schránky) system.
- The document contains a legal clause explaining the absence of a handwritten signature.
- When sent through a Data Box, the system automatically verifies your identity.
- This electronic identification has the same legal effect as a signed and notarized paper document. What is the purpose of this form? By completing these fields, you authorize the Grantee to represent you in dealings with municipal authorities. This allows them to handle the registration of the vehicle and your entry as the operator in the Road Vehicle Register.
Why doesn't my Power of Attorney include a specific VIN or License Plate?
Our Power of Attorney is intentionally designed as a universal document. By using a General Power of Attorney without specific vehicle details (like VIN or registration plates), we can handle the administrative registration process for your rental much more efficiently. Can I send the Power of Attorney from a corporate or third-party Data Box?
No. For the document to be legally valid, it must be sent from your own personal Data Box. The authority will reject any submissions where the sender's identity does not match the person named on the Power of Attorney. Please ensure you are logged into your individual account before submitting the document to avoid any delays in your registration.
How do I submit the Power of Attorney and what is a "Message ID"?
After filling out the form, you must send it via your personal Data Box (Datová schránka) to the Prague Authority (Recipient ID: 48ia97h). This submission is completely free of charge. Once sent, please reply to our email with only the 9-digit Message ID found in your submission confirmation. It is crucial that you do not send us the PDF document via email, post, or our company Data Box. As soon as we receive your Message ID, our team takes over and handles all remaining administrative steps for you.
What happens if I don't provide the Message ID at least 48 hours before my rental?
According to our Terms & Conditions, your registration as the vehicle operator in the official register is a mandatory requirement for the vehicle handover. We require a 48-hour processing window prior to the start of your rental to complete this administration. If we do not receive the Message ID from you in time—either because the submission was not made or because you forgot to confirm it to us via email—we cannot finalize your registration. In such cases, the handover of the vehicle and the start of your rental period (including the obligation to pay) will be postponed until the moment the registration is complete and the vehicle is officially ready for you.
How to Legally Use Our Rental Cars for Ride-Sharing (Uber, Bolt, Liftago)
In the Czech Republic, there is a strict legal requirement for all drivers using ride-sharing platforms like Uber or Bolt. Any vehicle used for this purpose must be officially registered in the national Register of Taxi Service Vehicles (Evidence vozidel taxislužby). This is not our company policy—it's the law. Most importantly, the registration must link the specific car directly to the specific driver's business license. This means you cannot simply rent a car and start driving. You must first complete a short administrative process to register the vehicle under your name.
Why and how do I need to register my rental car for ride-sharing services?
According to Czech law (the Act on Road Transport), every vehicle used for commercial passenger transport—including services like Uber, Bolt, or Liftago—must be officially listed in the Register of Taxi Service Vehicles (Evidence vozidel taxislužby). Crucially, this registration must directly link the vehicle to a specific driver (the operator) and their business license. What does this mean for you? When you rent a vehicle from us, you cannot immediately start driving for ride-sharing platforms. You must first complete an administrative step: registering the vehicle under your name as the operator. How does the process work?
- Filling out the form: The registration is done using an official government form titled "Evidence vozidel taxislužby." This form must be submitted to the relevant transport authority (in Prague, this is the Prague City Hall).
- Required Information: You will fill in your details as the operator (name, business ID number, address) and the details of the rented vehicle (license plate, make, and model), which we will provide to you.
- Driving without a Taximeter: Since all your rides are managed through an app, you will check the box on the form labeled "Bez taxametru" (Without a taximeter).
- Submission and Timing: In Person (Highly Recommended): We fundamentally recommend submitting the application in person via a paper form. This is usually processed immediately, allowing you to start driving sooner. What happens when my rental ends? Just as important as registration is the de-registration of the vehicle from the register when you return it to us. This step is mandatory and allows us to legally rent the vehicle to the next driver, who will need to register it under their own name.
Before You Start Driving: Registering the Vehicle
This is the first and most important step to operate legally.
- Action: You must register the rental car to your name/business ID in the official Register of Taxi Service Vehicles.
- How it's done: We will provide you with all the necessary vehicle details. You will use these to fill out the official government form. On the form, you will need to check the box for operation "Bez taxametru" (Without a taximeter), since your fares are managed through an app.
- Outcome: Once you submit the form and pay the small administrative fee at the transport authority, the car is legally registered to you. You are now compliant and can start accepting rides.

Once the car is registered to you, things are simple.
- Action: You can operate the vehicle for ride-sharing services for the entire duration of your rental.
- Key Rule: The registration is tied exclusively to you. This means no one else can legally use this vehicle for ride-sharing services while it is registered under your name.
After Your Rental Is Finished: De-registering the Vehicle
This final step is just as critical as the initial registration.
- Action: When you return the car to us, you must officially de-register it from your name in the Register of Taxi Service Vehicles.
- Why it's necessary: This action legally disconnects the vehicle from your business license. It is a mandatory step that allows the vehicle to be legally rented and registered by the next driver. Failing to do so can cause legal issues for both you and us.
- How it's done: You will use the same official form, but this time you will complete the section for de-registration (Vyřazení vozidla).

How soon can I start providing transport services after picking up the vehicle?
You can begin accepting trips once the following two requirements are met:
- Legal Compliance: You must first obtain and display the official taxi permit sticker (the "yellow sticker") on the vehicle. Operating for-hire services without this sticker is not permitted.
- Platform Registration: You must update the vehicle details and upload all necessary documents within your chosen ride-hailing platform’s app. Once the sticker is applied and your platform profile is approved, you are ready to start driving.
How do I collect my vehicle?
Collecting your vehicle is simple and handled primarily through our mobile app. After completing a quick inspection and signing your digital rental agreement in the app, you can collect the keys at our branch and start your journey.
What happens if I am late collecting my vehicle?
Your rental charges will begin at the scheduled pickup time regardless of when the vehicle is actually collected. Please be aware that if you are more than 48 hours late and have not contacted us, your booking will be automatically cancelled. In this specific case, the first week’s rental payment is non-refundable and will be retained as a cancellation fee.
How can I access documents such as insurance and vehicle registration?
All essential vehicle documentation is available digitally through our mobile app. For the duration of your rental, you will have instant access to:
- Vehicle Registration Certificate
- Green Card (Third-party Liability Insurance)
- Leasing Agreement Please note that these documents are accessible only while your rental period is active.
Is coverage included in the rental?
Yes, basic protection is included in every rental. We offer two protection plans to choose from:
- Standard Plan: Included at no extra cost. Your liability is limited to a maximum of 20 000 CZK (or 10% of the damage) per event.
- Full Plan: For an additional fee, your liability is reduced to a maximum of 10 000 CZK (or 10% of the damage) per event. Both plans cover Theft Protection (TP).
Can I have an additional driver or allow anyone else to drive the vehicle?
No. For insurance and safety reasons, the vehicle may only be driven by the named driver listed on the rental agreement. Your protection plan is strictly tied to the authorized driver; therefore, allowing anyone else to operate the vehicle would void your coverage.
Is there a mileage cap on my rental?
Yes. Your rental includes a mileage allowance of 1 500 km per week. Mileage is monitored and calculated on a weekly basis. If you exceed this weekly limit, an additional fee of 2 CZK per kilometer will be charged for any excess mileage.
What is the fuel policy for my rental?
We operate on a "like-for-like" basis. This means you should return the vehicle with the same fuel level it had when you collected it (typically a full tank). Missing Fuel: If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than recorded at pickup, the cost of the missing fuel will be deducted from your security deposit after the rental is finalized.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept most major debit and credit cards, including Visa and Mastercard. Please note that we currently do not accept American Express. All payments are securely processed directly through our mobile app.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes, a security deposit is required for all rentals. The exact amount depends on the vehicle model and the protection plan you select. Detailed information regarding the specific deposit amount for your booking can be found in your confirmation email.
- Processing: The deposit is processed 4 days before your scheduled pickup time.
- Refund: We release the deposit 14 days after your rental has been closed.
- Deductions: Please note that any outstanding balances (such as unpaid fees or other charges) will be deducted from the deposit before the remaining balance is returned to you..
Can I download a copy of my invoice?
Yes. Your invoices are available in two places:
- Email: Sent automatically to your inbox following each payment.
- Mobile App: Accessible in your booking or payment history for quick retrieval and download.

Do I need to call or visit a branch to extend my rental?
No, there is no need to visit us in person or make a phone call. You can extend your rental duration instantly and at your convenience directly through the mobile app. Please note that all extensions are subject to vehicle availability.
Can I return my vehicle earlier than planned?
If you wish to return your vehicle before the end of your contract, please contact us via email tnc@hertz.cz. We will do our best to accommodate your request; however, please be aware that any changes to the agreed return date are subject to approval and may involve additional charges or a recalculation of your rental rate.
